Holiday in Rome by John Crascall-Kennedy

January 15, 2010

Here is a picture of the inside of the Colluseum in Rome.  Gladiators, slaves would fight here or Christians would be eaten by lions!  Of course now it is in ruins.

DSCF2810

Before starting a fight the Gladiators would say to the Emperor “We who are about to die salute you”.  Then they would fight to the death.  At the and of the fight, the Emperor would put his thumbs up if the Gladitor should live.  But he could only do once to each person, the second time he had to die, he can only save them once.

Roman Websites

January 8, 2010

Here are some fantastic sites to look at all about Romans…

The Birmingham Museum and art Gallery. is an exciting site that gives you the chance to look at a time line and discover what big events happened when the Romans were in Britain; there is also a super game for you to dress a Roman soldier.

The BBC Schools Website has some fab facts and some clever quizes. Take a look.

You wouldn’t want to be a Roman Gladiator! This a scary site that let’s you explore what life as a Roman Gladiator was like.

Innovations Learning  is a great site that let’s you look at photos of amazing Roman artefacts!
